AFCI Breakers
At KB Electric LLC, safety is our number one priority. That is why we take pride in our safety and prevention electrical services to keep you and your family out of harm’s way. The installation of AFCI breakers is one of the many safety services we provide for homes in the Philadelphia area and surrounding suburbs of Southeastern PA.
What is an AFCI?
AFCI stands for Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter, and it’s function is to prevent fires that are caused by arc faults in the branch circuit wiring of an electrical panel. Arc faults are created through an unplanned path by a current’s flow in which heat develops, leading to the number one cause of electrical fires. These unplanned paths of current can be due to corroded connections in outlets/switches, damaged wiring insulation, damaged electrical appliance cords, faulty amateur wiring, etc.
Importance of AFCI Breakers
It’s very important for you to have an AFCI breaker installed in your electrical panel to prevent electrical fires. AFCI breakers disconnect power when an arc fault is present, keeping you and your family safe from a potential fire-starter.
Take a more in-depth look at AFCIs in our blog. The importance of AFCI protection is something a homeowner should not take lightly. It is required by the National Electrical Code (NEC) since 2002 that all homes should have AFCI protection. Don’t try this yourself! The licensed electricians at KB Electric LLC will be able to install AFCI breakers in your electrical panel for the necessary rooms of your home required by the NEC. Call us today!
