Cadillac Vehicles To Be Majority, If Not All, Electric By 2030
KB Electric LLC has seen an uptick in electric vehicle (EV) ownership. So much so that in 2019, our electricians installed EV home chargers on an almost monthly basis! When we came upon a recent article in the news, we knew we had to share it. The trend for electric vehicles is no wonder that GM expects their Cadillac lineup to be almost all electric by 2030, if not all.
Cadillac’s President Steve Carlisle announced in mid-December that the luxury car brand will phase out its current models that need filling up at the pump based on market demand. By the end of the 2020’s, Carlisle said Cadillac will finish the decade as a “battery-electric brand”, with its first electric vehicle to debut in China in 2021.
The plan, according to the company executive, is to globally be an all-electric vehicle brand for the majority, if not all of Cadillac’s cars by 2030. Some overlap will occur with the transition during the 2020’s, with some internal combustion engine (ICE) cars and electric cars in the lineup “for a period”, according to Carlisle. He also named the end of the decade the “end of the ICE age for Cadillac”.
With new vehicles comes new names. Cadillac will debut its new electric vehicles with traditional names, like ‘Escalade’, dropping the current letter and number combinations (XT6, XT4, etc.).
We are sure that with the trend of EVs on the rise, more car brands will follow suit to introduce fully all-electric vehicles. We don’t know what the future holds, but we can see KB Electric LLC installing more and more EV home charging stations sooner rather than later.
